Boys Golf Off To Impressive Start in First Month, Top 5 in All 3 Events

Bulldogs Take East Central Invitational Title

The Lincoln boys golf team has impressed early on, as the Bulldogs have finished top five in all three early season tournaments.

Lincoln won the East Central Invitational on March 24 at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Claremore, as the Bulldogs cruised to a first place team finish.

Lincoln also finished 4th as a team at the Coweta Boys Invitational at Indian Springs Golf Course in Broken Arrow on Mach 30

The Bulldogs also took 5th place as a team at the Miami Invitational on March 23 at Peoria Ridge Golf Course in Miami.

"The team has strong returning leadership at the top and some younger guys are really working hard to round out our top five," said Lincoln head coach Jeff Campbell.

"At some point, I'm hoping that potential and consistency collide and make us a serious contender."

At the Coweta Invitational, Lincoln was led by sophomore Brant Ritzhaupt.

The star underclassmen shot 74 to take 4th place individually.

Senior Caleb Ellig was 12th for Lincoln after shooting 78, while junior Kael Wilkinson took 16th with an 80.

Nathan Shaughnessy shot 85 and Owen Weight shot 108 for Lincoln.

Lincoln was not far behind tournament champion Bishop Kelley, who fired a team score of 312. Holland Hall finished one shot out of first to take 2nd, while Rejoice was one stroke behind the Dutch to take 3rd.

Lincoln shot 317 as a team.

At the East Central Invitational, Lincoln shot 325 as a team to roll to the title, well ahead of runner-up Coweta (347).

The Bulldogs had four of the top five finishers, led by Wilkinson was the individual champion after firing a 78.

Ritzhaupt was one-shot behind in 2nd after shooting 79.

Ellig took 3rd for Lincoln after carding an 80, while junior Gage Sowell was 5th with an 82.

Shaughnessy was 14th with an 88 and Weight was 16th after shooting 90.

In Miami, Lincoln shot a team score of 334 to finish behind the champion Poteau (316), runner-up Claremore (324), as well as Summit Christian (328) and Baxter Springs (332).

Ritzhaupt was the top finisher for Lincoln, taking 9th place individual with a 79.

Ellig was inside the top 20 at 18th after shooting 83. Wilkinson and Shaughnessy each shot 86 to finish 23rd. Weight shot 110 for Lincoln.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday, April 9 at the Choctaw Invitational at Choctaw Creek Golf Course in Choctaw.

Lincoln is back in the Tulsa are on April 14 for the Pinnacle Conference Tournament at LaFortune Park Golf Course in Tulsa.
