The Lincoln boys golf team went over to the west side of the state last week, battled the tough conditions and came back with a championship, as the Bulldogs took the team title at the Yukon Open at Crimson Creek Golf Course in El Reno last Thursday.
The Bulldogs, who have finished in the top three as a team in all events this season, had a team total of 308 to win comfortably while battling cold weather, rain and windy conditions.
Lincoln finished well clear of runner-up Clinton (319) and 3rd place OKC Storm (329), while the Bulldogs other squad finished 4th with a team total of 339.
"The guys are really startin to figure out how to minimize larger numbers," said head coach Jeff Campbell. "We are starting to get better around the greens and keep the ball in play."
Lincoln sophomore Kael Wilson and freshman Brant Ritzhaupt led the way for the Bulldogs, as each shot a 76, good for 3rd place individually.
Senior
Ryan Cordova shot 77 to take 6th, while fellow classmate
Asa Loftis shot 79 to finish 7th.
"The team had the lowest score that can be remembered and now we are aiming at 300 as a team goal," said Campbell.
Junior
Luke Campbell shot 81 to finish 12th for Lincoln.
Lincoln will be back in action this Thursday when they play in the Collinsville Invitational at Bailey Ranch Golf Course in Owasso.
The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround when they head to Perkins for a tournament at Cimarron Trails Golf Club next Monday, followed by the Pinnacle Conference Tournament at Lafortune Golf Course in Tulsa next Tuesday.
