Four Lincoln wrestlers punched their tickets to the Big House last weekend, as Lincoln continues to be more represented at the state wrestling tournament with each year.
Lincoln took home 7th as a team at last weekend's OSSAA 3A East Regional in Blackwell, the highest finish in program history.
Juniors Ty Thrasher and Hudson Farris both came up just short in the finals, taking home 2nd and setting themselves up nicely for this weekend's state tournament.
Freshman Ethan Uyetake took home 4th for Lincoln, while senior Dawson Fullingim placed 5th to make it for the Bulldogs.
"It was a historic performance for our program," said Lincoln head coach AB Stokes.
Both Thrasher (157) and Farris (132) are back after qualifying for state during their first two seasons with eyes set on a better finish in 2025.
"Ty and Hudson are both focused on getting ready for state," said Stokes. "They are not strangers to the state tournament and understand that getting in gives you an opportunity to do great things."
Thrasher is 42-6 and looking to improve off his 3rd place finish last year.
He pinned Jimmie Wildcat from Pawhuska in his opening match, followed by a tech fall win over Blaine Miller of Barnsdall in the quarterfinals.
Thrasher pinned Braylon Hart of Salina in the semis before losing to Zane Swafford of Berryhill in overtime in the regional finals.
"Ty responded like a champion," said Stokes. "I believe he's in the right head space to do something special this upcoming weekend. He's worked hard all of his life for moments like this, so I have extreme confidence that he can wrestle with anyone in his bracket."
Farris (37-8) pinned Briar Adams of Heavener in his opening round match, followed by another pin of Colton Mills of Newkirk in the quarterfinals.
Garris pinned Brice Lozinsky of Berryhill in the semis before falling in overtime to Peyton Head of Perry in the finals.
"Hudson has shown great dedication to the sport and is looking the best he's looked all year," said Stokes.
Uyetake is 31-17 in his first varsity season and battled back with a 4-2 record this weekend to make it to state.
He pinned his first two opponents, taking down JJ Schuler of Berryhill and Levi Kirk of Hulbert in the opening two rounds.
Uyetake (165) pinned Vann Wildcat of Pawhuska in the quarterfinals before losing to Kelby Ingram of Blackwell in the semis.
But the freshman wasn't done yet, as the pinned Bladin McCartney of Gore in the consolation semifinals to make the 3rd place match.
Uyetake fell to Andrew Kukuk of Perry but was safely into this weekend's event.
"Ethan has consistently improved throughout the season," Stokes said. "I was very excited to see him get through and earn a spot on the state bracket."
Fullingim is in his first year wrestling but found a way to make another event in state during his decorated high school career, on and off the field or mat.
The senior is just 15-7, battling back through injuries after the new year, but also went 4-2 over the two-day event to keep his season alive.
Fullingim won by forfeit in his opening match before pinning Kade Morrisset of Wyandotte before beating Vic Gomez of Vinita by major decision in the quarterfinals.
He fell to Breck Ailey of Newkirk in the semis and Elijah Childress in the consolation semifinals in his next two matches, but Fullingim had one more chance.
The senior rose to the occasion, pinning Jaydin Shaw of Pawhuska in a win-or-go-home 5th place match.
"Dawson came through with minimal mat time and experience but has the heart of a Bulldog,"said Stokes. "He brought the mentally that he's learned from Coach Ricke and Coach Fullingim and the football staff onto the mat."
"It just shows if you buy into the Lincoln culture you can be successful in anything."
Junior Gabe Huntsinger was looking for his 3rd straight trip to the state tournament, but came up just short, finishing his season with a 21-14 record.
"Gabe fell short this year, but his leadership and support means a lot to this team and program.," said Stokes. "I know he's going to work hard to have a special season next year."
Uyetake and Fullingim will begin action on Wednesday at 6 p.m., while Thrasher and Farris begin wrestling on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.
