Lincoln has gotten off to a perfect start to the 2026 season, as the Bulldogs have raced to a 5-0 record after four wins in the last five days.
After a season opening win over Bartlesville, Lincoln won a tough 2-0 game vs. NOAH at home last Thursday before the biggest win of the young season on Saturday afternoon.
Lincoln went on the road to traditional 5A power Collinsville and won 14-9, before picking up a district sweep on Monday.
The Bulldogs won their first two district games of the season with big wins over Westville, rolling 12-0 and 17-0.
"It was a great week for us," said Lincoln head coach Greg Harmon. "We picked up some really good wins and I'm proud of our kids."
Harmon's deepest team in his three years at Lincoln has already shown its worth, as the Bulldogs have used different lineups and a host of pitchers to remain undefeated.
"I mean, I've said it, but I'm going to continue to say it, that no matter what day we play or what lineup we throw out there, there's good players on the field and there's good players on our bench each and every day," Harmon said. "And I believe in everyone that we have and I'm really excited to be able to use our depth to put a complete team on the field each and every day."
The start couldn't have gone any better, as Lincoln has allowed just nine runs in five games with four shutouts, while averaging over 11 runs per game.
"We have competitions going on at first base, second base and third base and everybody that's involved in those competitions right now is producing," Harmon said. "That's a great problem to have."
"We have multiple options at multiple positions and it's going to be hard on us as coaches to sort this out. But we're going to do our best and we're really proud of all of our kids and what they've been able to accomplish this week."
The Bulldogs will host Jones on Friday at 2 p.m. for another big early season matchup, facing a Longhorns team that ended Lincoln's season last spring.
"That's going to be a fun day. Both teams are out of school and that's a huge matchup for us," Harmon said. "Obviously they eliminated us last year in super regionals. Great team like us have similar goals and as competitors, we want to give ourselves an opportunity at redemption."
"Our kids are excited, our coaches are excited. It's going to be a great non district atmosphere."
The Bulldogs also have a challenging game on Saturday at noon against another good 5A team, as Lincoln will travel to Coweta before heading to Gulf Shores, AL for spring break baseball.
"We've really got a challenging schedule leading into Gulf Shores and we're really happy about that," Harmon said. "We do that on purpose so that we can challenge and prepare our kids because we know this team has the opportunity to do some really special things."
LINCOLN 2, NOAH 0
After a season opening win over Bartlesville last week, Lincoln needed just a little offense and some great pitching to move to 2-0 last Thursday vs. NOAH.
Carter Hunter pitched a game and the Bulldogs did just enough at the plate, overcoming an impressive pitching performance from NOAH, as well.
Hunter went 6.2 innings, allowing just three hits and walking just one batter, while striking out 12.
"He was awesome," said Harmon. "It's crazy that he can throw that well when still battling through, what I think he and I would both agree, is not his best stuff. When he gets dialed in, he's going to be even scarier on the mound."
Lincoln got a single in the 3rd by freshman Major Brooks to take a 1-0 lead, as the youngster sliced a line drive to left to score Beaux Brumble.
Brumble opened the inning with a leadoff walk before Jaxon Crumbliss reached after being hit. Senior Carter Ricke singled on a bunt to load the bases before Brooks delivered two batters later.
"With two outs and bases loaded, our young gun Major steps up in a huge spot facing a really good pitcher and delivers for us," said Harmon.
Crumbliss scored shortly after on a passed ball to make it 2-0, which is all Hunter and the defense needed.
"When you have limited opportunities, you have to take advantage of those. And we really did so," said Harmon. "It was good pitching on both sides, good defense on both sides. And we came up with one more timely hit than they did."
Senior Cade Poplin came in to close the game out and get the final inning, preserving the big win for Lincoln early in the year in a tough, bases loaded spot.
"How special is it to be able to put a guy into a bases loaded, two out spot and get the job done. That's exactly what Cade did for us," Harmon said. "He came in in a tough spot with everything working against him. He threw one pitch and they hit a ground ball up the middle to Nate Cottman, who made a really, really nice play."
LINCOLN 14, COLLINSVILLE 9
After the bats were quiet on Thursday, they certainly woke up on Saturday afternoon in Collinsville.
The Bulldogs exploded for 14 hits offensively and put the game away with a fury of runs late to pick up its biggest win of the young season over a perennial 5A favorite.
Lincoln scored five runs in the 2nd to take an early 5-1 lead but then fell behind after Collinsville answered with a handful in the bottom of the 5th.
However Lincoln scored a run in the 5th to pull within 7-6 before blowing the game open in the 6th, with five more runs.
The Bulldogs added three more in the top of the 7th to take a 14-8 lead.
"Saturday we did some great things offensively," said Harmon. "You know, we were hitting singles, doubles, triples, down the gap, down the line, in the gap — our kids were doing it all. We bunted the baseball better than we've bunted the baseball in probably the three years I've been here."
Not only did Lincoln have a breakout day hitting hate all, but the Bulldogs small ball paid off in a big way.
"We really took advantage of our ground pressure game," said Harmon. "We had multiple bunt base hits, had a couple of squeezes, a couple of safety squeezes. We were able to take what the defense gave us and make the most of those opportunities."
Sophomore Aiden Hendren got the start for Lincoln in his first game after coming over from basketball.
The youngster was on a limited pitch count but worked two solid innings, allowing an unearned run and striking out four.
"I thought getting Aiden back was nice and he did really, really well," Harmon said. "He's done a great job in the off season of preparing for that moment."
Hendren was also one of eight Bulldogs with a hit, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
He, along with basketball teammate Cole Dooley, who was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, provided a lift for the Bulldogs in their season opener.
"Hendren came through offensively, as well, and we had another basketball guy in the lineup for their first day back in Cole Dooley," Harmon said. "He had a hit and got a couple bunts down for us and just performed really, really well."
Reid Eddings, was 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, a triple and two RBIs. He also worked the remainder of the contest in five innings of relief.
Poplin had a double, while Lane Hunter was 2-for-4, Brumble was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Cade Ryan was 2-for-2 with an RBI single.
"Onn the weekends, especially against these higher powered teams like Collinsville, we know we're going to give up some runs," Harmon said. "It's just our job to make sure that they earn those runs. And it's our job offensively to just make sure we're competing and keeping ourselves in the ball game."
The Bulldogs walked 11 times in the win, including three by Brooks. Lane Hunter had three steals for Lincoln, while Ricke also contributed an RBI single.
