It was a great day for softball on the campus of Lincoln Christian, as the Bulldogs won their second game of the week, coming from behind to beat Dewey 3-2.
Earlier in the day, the junior high also picked up two wins, beating Verdigris and Carver to advance to the Lincoln JH Bulldog Classic Championship.
"It was a very long day but a very good day," said Lincoln head coach Lacy Ragland.
In the varsity game, Lincoln trailed 2-1 heading into the bottom of the 5th before Lincoln rallied to pull ahead.
Sophia Nantz led off the inning with a bunt single and then stole second.
Junior Maddie Stewart followed by lacing a single to center, allowing Nantz to round 3rd and score, tying the game at 2-2.
After advancing to 2nd on the throw home following her hit, Stewart moved to 3rd on a passed ball.
Bryleigh Milligan put Lincoln ahead with an RBI ground out, allowing Stewart to score.
"The variety game was beautiful," Ragland said. "The sun went down and the lights came on - and so did our girls."
Stewart, who was strong on the mound for Lincoln, allowed just one hit the rest of the way and the Bulldogs held on.
"They came alive and played awesome," said Ragland. "Dewey is a very good team and it was a great win for us."
Dewey opened the game with a run each in the 1st and 2nd before Milligan had an RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd to score Stewart to cut the lead in half.
Stewart went all seven innings, allowing six hits and walking three. She gave up just one earned run and struck out eight Dewey batters.
She was also 2-for-3 at the plate.
Addison Whitmire was 1-for-3 with a double, while Brooklyn Malone also singled.
Milligan was 1-for-3 with the two RBIs, as eight of nine Lincoln hitters reached base in the win.
The Bulldogs will host Kellyville on Monday at 5 p.m. and be at Morris next Tuesday.
Lincoln beat Kellyville 11-3 on the road on Aug. 27 and won over Morris 10-2 at home on Aug. 13.
