Lincoln Softball Program Honored with Awards, End of Year Banquet

The postseason honors have been racking up for the Lincoln Christian softball program, as the Bulldogs finished the season strong and the recognition reflects that.

Seniors Addison Whitmire and Campbell Ryan wrapped up their Bulldog careers with stellar senior seasons and subsequently, have been honored for their performances.

Whitmire was named all-region utility and first-team all-district utility, while Ryan was named all-region catcher and first-team all-district catcher.

Whitmire led the Bulldogs with a .388 average in 2024. She was also tops on the team with a .447 on-base percentage, a .518 slugging percentage and a .974 OPS.

She also led the Bulldogs in hits (33), doubles (9) and tied for the team lead with Ryan in RBIs (16). Whitmire also had an .846 fielding percentage defensively and scored 19 runs.

Whitmire was also named the Offensive Player of the Year at the LCS team banquet last week.

"She has an infectious smile and a heart of gold," said head coach Lacy Ragland. "She had an outstanding career and season for us."

Ryan was a big part of the Bulldogs in her senior season, both behind the plate and with the bat. She had a .273 batting average and a .302 on base percentage. Ryan also had five doubles, and tied Whitmire with the team lead in RBIs (16).

The catcher was outstanding defensively, finishing with a .953 fielding percentage in 179 innings behind the plate. She caught 705 innings in her high school career.

Ryan was named the team MVP at the banquet last week.

"She was a leader for us on the field and in the classroom," Ragland said. "She just had so much heart."

Junior Maddi Stewart was the all-district pitcher of the year after a stellar season on the mound for Lincoln.

Stewart had a 3.42 ERA across 120 innings in 21 starts for the Bulldogs in 2024. Stewart had 106 strikeouts and a .911 fielding percentage.

The junior was great at the plate, as well. She had a .301 batting average and a .375 on-base percentage. She had five doubles, one homer, 11 RBIs, scored 26 runs and had 23 steals.

"She is a great leader in the circle for us and excels in multiple sports," said Ragland.

Junior Kabry Kiger was named second-team all-district, as well as the Slugger of the Year at the team banquet.

Kiger hit .286 with a .382 on-base percentage, as well as a .364 slugging percentage. She had a double, a triple and a homer, while driving in 10 runs and scoring 19 runs. Defensively, Kiger had an .887 fielding percentage.

"She was a super versatile player for us and was willing to do anything to help us win," said Ragland.

Brooklyn Malone was also named second-team all-district, while Haylee Delozier and Bryleigh Milligan were each named all-district honorable mention.

Malone had 20 hits on the season, along with nine RBIs and 10 runs.

Delozier started 10 games on the mound for Lincoln, finishing with a 4.77 ERA and a 4-3 record across 58 innings. She also hit .321 at the plate with a .762 OPS, driving in eight runs.

Milligan, a freshman, had an impressive first year, as the youngster had four doubles, 11 RBIs and eight steals, while scoring 10 runs.

The final award handed out at the team banquet was the annual "Bulldog Award," which also includes the "Leadership Hat" that is passed down year-to-year.

Ryan, last year's winner, passed the hat to the 2024 Bulldog Award winner, Jade Summerlin.

"It is a very subjective award," Ragland said. "It can be given on stats, action, attitude, efforts, heart, and everything in between."

Ragland spoke about the qualities that made Summerlin the perfect choice for this season's award.

"Sometimes this is tough to decide," she said. "But, this year's award went to a girl who works hard on and off the field, is an encourager at heart and is always smiling."

Summerlin had 12 hits, six RBIs, six steals and scored 13 runs this season for Lincoln.

"She's been through ups and downs in many areas of life," Ragland said. "She's an incredible friend. Her advice to others is impressive and always points back to dependency on Jesus. She loves everyone around her and they love her. She makes everyone feel better after having been near her. And as a softball player, she is joyful and willing to do whatever is asked of her."

"She works continuously to live a life 'Above Reproach.'"

Ryan also had some comments on what the award meant to her, as well as what it was like to pass the award onto Summerlin.

"She showed so much growth in the past three years, both on and off the field," Ryan said. "She always has a great attitude, no matter what position she is in and is constantly encouraging those around her. No after what she is going through, on the field or in life, she is always looking to those around her and lifting them up."

"She is the perfect example of a selfless, Godly leader."

Lincoln finished the season 11-19, but won 10 of the last 14 to close the regular season strong.
