Lincoln softball picked up three more wins over the last couple of weeks, as the Bulldogs continue to build down the stretch of the regular season and prepare for postseason play.
The Bulldogs (12-10) continue to be busy as they enter the final week of the regular season.
Lincoln got three wins over the last week and a half, beating Kansas 8-7 on the road on Sept. 9, picking up a home victory 10-0 over Sequoyah Claremore on Sept. 11 and taking down Stillwell last Thursday 10-2 at the Inola Festival.
The Bulldogs lost a couple vs. Adair to open last week and also fell 7-2 to Fort Gibson on Thursday in Inola, as well.
Lincoln's other two games in the Inola Festival (vs. Cleveland, vs. Miami) were rained out on Saturday.
The Bulldogs have a home-and-home with Dewey on Monday and Tuesday of this week before hosting NOAH on Thursday and traveling to Oologah on Sept. 29.
Lincoln starts regional play on Thursday, Oct. 2.
LINCOLN 8, KANSAS 7 - Sept. 9
In a back-and-forth contest that took two extra innings, Lincoln made the final plays to pick up a big win at Kansas a couple of weeks ago.
Elizabeth Eddings ripped a 2-out single to center with the game tied at 7-7 in the top of the 9th, scoring Bryleigh Milligan and putting the Bulldogs on top.
Then senior pitcher Maddi Stewart, who tossed six innings of relief, slammed the door with three quick outs on just eight pitches to end the game.
Stewart entered after starter Haylee Delozier and with the Bulldogs trailing 6-4.
The senior allowed just two hits and an earned run. She walked just two batters and threw 66 pitches.
After Lincoln got a quick 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 2nd, Kansas responded with six runs in the 2nd.
The Bulldogs answered with a run to cut the deficit to one in the top of the 5th but Kansas answered to push the margin back to 7-5.
Lincoln tied the game in the top of the 7th in their final at bat, as Jade Summerlin ripped a 2-run double to left, scoring Eddings and senior Kabry Kiger.
Eddings was 3-for-5 with a double in the win, while Stewart finished 2-for-5 with an RBI double.
Eddings and Stewart, along with Milligan, each stole two bases in the victory.
Kiger was 2-for-5 in the win for Lincoln, while Ivy Wheeler finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
LINCOLN 10, SEQUOYAH CLAREMORE 0 - Sept. 11
The Bulldogs followed their dramatic win at Kansas up with a dominant performance just two days later, as Lincoln rolled at home over the Eagles.
Stewart was dominant on the mound again, as she pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and walking one batter while striking out six.
She was also 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.
Brooklyn Malone was 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the win, while Kiger was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple.
Sophie Ellis also doubled, while Summerlin had two singles for the Bulldogs.
Eddings, Delozier, Wheeler and Milligan each had a hit in the win, as Lincoln racked up 14 as a team.
Eddings and Kiger stole two bags each for Lincoln in the victory.
The Bulldogs led 1-0 after two innings but pushed the lead out to 4-0 through three.
Lincoln added two more in the 5th and four more in the 6th to walk the game off with a run-rule victory.
LINCOLN 10, STILWELL 2 - Sept. 18
The Bulldogs picked up a quality win on Thursday over Stilwell in Inola, thanks to more of the same from Stewart and company.
The senior needed just four innings to get the win, allowing just two runs on three hits.
But she had plenty of run support early, as Lincoln opened with three runs in the first and five more in the 2nd.
The Bulldogs led 10-0 after three innings before the Indians scored two in the top of the 4th.
Malone and Ellis each had a 2-run double in the win for Lincoln, while Kiger had a 2-run single.
Summerlin and Milligan also singled for Lincoln in the win. The Bulldogs walked five times and took advantage of four Stilwell errors.Â
Stewart also had two steals in the win.
