Lincoln wrestling competed in another loaded out-of-state tournament last weekend and fared well, as the Bulldogs continue to put together the best season in school history as the calendar turns to February.
The Bulldogs, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A now, finished 16th out of 40 schools from eight different states.
Lincoln finished with 92 team points, more than tripling the total from last year's showing at the event — the Rocky Welton Invitational in Garden City, KS.
Lincoln was led by freshman Drake Sheffield, who took 6th at 132 after going 5-3 over the weekend.
"Drake was the only freshman in his bracket to make the podium," said Lincoln head coach AB Stokes. "He wrestled well in a deep field."
Senior Gabe Huntsinger took 7th place at 144, going 5-2 over the weekend.Â
Junior Lincoln Torres (285) was 9th after a 4-2 showing over the weekend, while freshmen Easton Smith (126) and Max Madrid (150) and senior Hudson Farris (138) each finished 10th in their weight class.
Freshman Colt Conroy went 3-2 across the weekend to take 13th place at 215, while fellow freshman Arion Stokes (106) was 3-3 and finished 14th.
Senior Ethan Uyetake (175) was 3-3 over the weekend and finished in 15th place.
The Bulldogs will be at Victory on Tuesday for a dual before competing at the OSSAA 3A Dual State Tournament on Feb. 14 at Union High School, with action starting at 10 a.m.
Lincoln is 15-2 as a team in duals on the year.
The Bulldogs will compete at the Class 3A East Regional on Feb. 20-21 in Blackwell.
