Bulldogs Take Gold, Silver at First Ever Mid Season Meet of Champions

Both Teams Show Out at Inagural Meet on New Home Course

The Lincoln cross country teams welcomed the school's new course in with style on Saturday, as the Bulldogs continued to lead the pack in the first ever Mid Season Meet of Champions.

The boys took home the team title, while the girls finished 2nd as a team in what was an outstanding inaugural event on the campus of LCS.

"We were able to host some of the best teams in the state and welcome coaches who've always taken care of us," said Lincoln head coach Stephen Lewelling. "Mentors and peers brought their kids to our home course and it made me proud to show off what we've built with the families welcoming them."

The new course, which was just finished in recent months, hosted some of the top teams from around the state.

And the boys continued their dominant 2025, led by the familiar junior duo of Sammy Farris and Ty Brooks, as well as senior Trevor Hacker.

Brooks was 4th overall with a time of 16:11, while Hacker was right behind in 5th at 16:20.

Farris finished 7th overall with a time of 16:34.

Senior Garner McAfee finished 11th with a time of 16:55, while sophomore Noah Caughey was right with him, taking 12th by running 16:56.

Junior Gabe Sword also ran 16:56, finishing just a half second behind Caughey to take 13th.

Sophomore Ben Bouldin was 16th overall with a time of 17:05, while junior Cristiano Sejera was 34th for Lincoln at 18:12.

"Sammy and Ty led from the front, while seniors Trevor and Garner held down our No. 3 and No. 4 spot, as usual," Lewelling said. "Gabe Sword took the 5th spot."

Lewelling spoke about how special this group is and highlighted the team's depth, which makes it even more impressive.

"Our top five make up strongest team we've had in years and the next three are right behind them in Noah, Ben and Cristiano," he said.

It was the 4th team win for Lincoln in as many events this season.

GIRLS XC Home 25

On the girls side, Lincoln finished behind only No. 2 (6A) Edmond Memorial.

The Bulldogs were again led by freshman Madi Miller, as well as as juniors Bentley Stewart and Tennyson Housley.

Miller finished 6th overall with a time of 19:14, while Stewart was 8th at 19:27 and Housley was 9th at 19:38.

Freshman Izzy Truitt was 14th overall with a time of 19:58, while fellow freshman Bella Ramirez finished 21st after running 20:33.

"The girls had a good performance," said Lewelling. "Madi has become one of the best freshmen in Oklahoma and led us as Bentley and Tennyson were our No. 2 and No. 3, freshmen Izzy Truitt and Bella Ramirez were our 4th and 5th."

Senior Brynlee Durborow was 28th overal with a time of 21:01.

Lewelling was proud of the entire program for not only their performance on the field, but overall throughout the day in hosting the meet.

"I was most proud of how our kids served from 7:30 a.m. to noon, raced then tore down and cleaned the whole course," he said. "It's a special group who serves one another well."

Lincoln is back in action tomorrow at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater at 9 a.m.

The Bulldogs will then head to the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, AR on Oct. 4 for one of the biggest meets nationwide annually.
