More school records fell on Friday, as the Lincoln Christian track teams competed at one of the top events in the state. Both boys and girls teams were at the University of Oklahoma for the John Jacobs Invitational, annually known as one of the larger, more competitive meets on the calendar. "We had good performances," said Lincoln head coach Stephen Lewelling. "I really wanted to see us on the big stage. By going down to compete at the University of Oklahoma, we got to see some of the best teams in the state." Lewelling spoke about his team being right in the thick of prepping for regionals and the state meet and how he was surprised at the performance of his team. "Being in the thick of our training cycle, I didn't expect a bunch of PRs or school records, but we still came away with a good sample size of what we can accomplish," he said.
The boys 4x800 relay (Jack Strode, Ty Brooks, Garner McAfee, Sammy Farris) set a new school record, as the Bulldogs placed 2nd with a time of 7:57.46. That was the group's best time of the season and broke the previous record set by Strode, Ben Humana, Jaxson Brooks and Ethan Martin.
