Before the perennial powerhouses faced off in a now 5A dual, each JV and Varsity volleyball player was able to honor a teacher that's left a mark on her life by presenting them with an inscribed mini-volleyball.
With both student sections showing up big, the adrenaline and excitement in the gym was palpable. Both teams struggled to get consistent serving stretches in, but it was the Bulldogs that calmed their nerves first and they were able to take the set 25-19.
The Conquerors came out strong in the second set, forcing Lincoln out of system in many serve receive offensive attacks. But the Bulldogs came back from behind to win 25-23.
I'm the third and final set, Lincoln got back in its groove and sailed to a smooth 25-13 victory.
Paiton Tuggle and Audrey Hopkins led the troops on offense with 12 and 6 kills, respectively, both hitting over .400 efficiency. The defensive effort was solid with diving saves from Jaden Katsis and the Hopkins/Tuggle combo combined for 16 digs as well. Micalah Reed and Hannah Clayton both had 3 blocks to make it easier on the defenders.
The Bulldogs head to Bishop McGuinness this weekend to compete it their last regular season tournament on Friday and Saturday.
