8/19 Lincoln Mile Season Opener
Lincoln hosted one of the first cross country meets of the season this past Saturday, August the 19th. In it's 2nd year, the Mile Season Opener more than doubled in size. With 20 teams in attendance and over 700 athletes racing, the meet was a big success.
High school boys won the meet by 31 points over several 6A schools. In 1st was freshman
Ty Brooks (4:41) followed by teammate and fellow freshman
Sammy Farris who was just fractions of a second behind Ty. Jack Strode,
Lukas Bury,
Garner McAfee,
Colin Pogue and
Trevor Hacker were the others contributing in the varsity race. The JV boys also won the meet by 31 points over the next best team.
High school girls placed 2nd and had a strong showing. Freshman
Tennyson Housley broke the course record by 21 seconds on her way to a 1st place finish.
Brynlee Durborow (5th) also placed in the top 5. Rounding out the varsity team was
Baylee Woodrich,
Breanna Allen,
Bentley Stewart,
Sierra Dillingham and
Kate Posey. Like the boys, the JV girls won their division too.
Next up - Owasso Relays on Friday, August 25th. A 4 person, 1.5 mile relay at O'Brien Park. 9:00 AM start time
