Lincoln Christian dominates to open the season, dismantling the Cascia Hall Commandos 75-33.
The leading factor for the Bulldogs was their suffocating defense, which the Commandos could never overcome. Lincoln racked up steals in each quarter, grabbing 9 in the first quarter, 10 in the second quarter, 3 in the third quarter and 6 in the fourth quarter. Ultimately, the Bulldogs grabbed 28 steals and 3 blocks against Cascia. Maddi Stewart led the team with 5 steals, while Ellie Brueggemann, Adyson Roberts and Audrey Hopkins all snagged 4.Â
The Bulldogs racked up the points on offense, scoring 17 points in the first quarter, 25 points in the second, 19 points in the third and 14 in the last quarter. Lincoln was very efficient on offense, shooting 46.7% in the third quarter and 60.0% in the fourth. Ultimately, Lincoln shot 44.4% for the game. The Bulldogs were unbelievable from the three point time, shooting 47.4% from behind the arc. Kaci Swindall led the team in made threes, knocking down 3 throughout the game.Â
Lincoln facilitated the ball well, passing for 16 assists throughout the game. Adyson Roberts and Maddi Stewart led the team in assists, passing for 4 each. The Bulldogs dominated the boards, grabbing a total of 37 rebounds. Stewart led the team in rebounds with 9, while Audrey Hopkins also grabbed 6.Â
The Bulldogs leading scorers were Audrey Hopkins with 15 points, Kayli Atkinson with 13 points, Ellie Brueggemann with 11 points and Maddi Stewart with 10 points. Lincoln will improve to 1-0 on the season, and will prepare for the Vinita Tournament on Thursday.
