No. 1 Lincoln Dominates From Start to Finish in Shutout vs. Heavener

It was all No. 1 Lincoln from start to finish last Friday night, as the Bulldogs dominated Heavener in a 55-0 district win at home.

Lincoln (5-1, 3-0) scored seven first half touchdowns on just 13 plays, as the Bulldogs scored early and often, while also limiting Heavener to nothing offensively.

"Anytime you score the way we did, with several 1-play drives, you have to be pleased," said Lincoln head coach Jerry Ricke. "I thought our guys were well prepared and then just went out and executed what we wanted."

Lincoln had 367 total yards on just 27 offensive plays, averaging over 13 yards per snap.

Meanwhile, Heavener totaled just 77 yards in the game and averaged less than two yards per play and punted seven times.

"The defense played very well, very sound," said Ricke. "They were flying around the field from the start, and I think that rubbed off on some of the younger guys. Just a great team effort to limit them to very few positive plays on the night."

It was the Bulldogs' 53rd straight district win, dating back to Sept. 2018.

Lincoln also won another home game, as the Bulldogs are 61-1 at Willie George Field and Dennis Byrd Stadium across the last nine years.

The Bulldogs forced a three-and-out to open the game before the offense struck first.

Lincoln needed just two plays, as sophomore Max Madrid burst loose for a 31-yard touchdown run.

On the heels of a career night in last week's win over Victory, Madrid had another ridiculous night on the stat sheet, as he finished with all four carries going for scores.

The first one with 10:20 remaining in the first put Lincoln up 7-0.

Another punt on the ensuing possession gave the Bulldogs the ball back, as Lincoln needed just two plays again to score.

Sophomore quarterback Major Brooks connected with classmate and receiver Kade Wilson for 32 yards before Madrid scored again.

The hard-running underclassmen raced 30 yards for this score, as his second touchdown of the night made it 14-0 with 8:42 to go in the quarter.

It was more of the same on the next possession, as Heavener went backwards and had to punt again.

Lincoln got it deep into Heavener territory after just a 12-yard punt by the Wolves.

This time, Brooks connected with speedy junior receiver Caleb Peterson, who coasted in for a 25-yard touchdown.

With not even five minutes of game action one by, Lincoln already led 21-0.

Heavener punted after three plays again, giving Lincoln the ball back on the Wolves' side of the 50.

Two plays later Brooks found Peterson again, this time from 41 yards away.

Lincoln led 28-0 with 4:57 to go in the first.

Another three-and-out would allow the Bulldogs to score once more in the opening quarter, as Lincoln got it back and handed off to Madrid again.

He accomplished the hat trick with 1:52 to go in the first, scoring on a 30-yard TD run to make it 35-0.

Madrid's final score would come after Lincoln got the ball back after holding the Wolves on 4th down.

The Bulldogs had a short field, helped out most by a 20-yard pass from Brooks to junior Isasc Beisel, who came up just short on the play at the 1-yard line.

Madrid punched it in on the next play to make it 42-0 with 11:19 to go in the half.

"I thought Max's night was a great combination of blocking, and he had great vision and awareness of where the ball needed to go," said Ricke. "Max just keeps gaining more and more confidence behind those guys and we just continue to grow along the offensive line."

Heavener went backwards and had to punt once again, as Lincoln got it back inside the Wolves' 40.

Brooks connected with senior tight end Colt Monsey to move it to the Heaevener 10 before tossing another TD to Wilson on the next play to score again with 6:48 remaining in the half.

"We continue to get better and better each week. Our practices are becoming way more competitive because some of our younger guys are starting to figure some things out," said Ricke.

"You get that great competition in practice, and then you see it carry over to the games. I'm very excited about where we are at and what we have in front of us."

Lincoln scored its final touchdown of the night on the second play of the 3rd quarter, after Ronan Jones returned the kick 47 yards to the Heavener 35-yard line.

Backup quarterback Jarrison Moore connected with senior receiver Nathan Shaugnessy for 13 yards before senior running back Nate Johnston scored a 22-yard TD.

Brooks finished 8-of-9 for 170 yards, while Madrid had the four attempts for 92 yards rushing.

Peterson caught three passes for 72 yards, while Wilson had two grabs for 42 yards.

Junior Nate Uyetake finished with five tackles and had two tackles for loss, along with a forced fumble.

Monsey also had five tackles, with three for loss, while senior defensive lineman Rain Ragland had four stops and two tackles for loss.

The Bulldogs had 12 tackles for loss as a team, while holding Heavener to 2-of-12 on 3rd down and 1-of-3 on 4th down.

Lincoln held the Wolves to just 1-of-9 for 37 yards passing.

Heavener did not cross into Lincoln territory until the Wolves' final drive of the game but was held on 4th and goal.

Offensively, Lincoln did not face a 3rd down until early in the 4th quarter and had just two 2nd down snaps until late in the 3rd quarter.

The Bulldogs are off this week after Spiro had to cancel and forfeit.

Lincoln is back in action for a huge district matchup on Oct. 23 when the Bulldogs host Checotah.

The Bulldogs are looking for the program's 10th straight district title and fourth straight state championship.

Lincoln has made eight straight state semifinal appearances and is 97-5 since the start of 2019.

The Bulldogs have won 47 of the last 48 games and are 108-7 across the last eight seasons.
