WEEK 7 PREVIEW: No. 1 Bulldogs Return Home to Host Muldrow

No. 1 Lincoln returns home on fall break with a perfect 6-0 record, looking to protect a 54-game home win streak the Bulldogs host Muldrow on Thursday night.

Lincoln, who is also 3-0 in 3A-3, will look to extend their overall win streak to 35 straight. It is the second longest active streak in Oklahoma among all classes.

The Bulldogs have been more than impressive in district play, as Lincoln has not allowed a touchdown and has scored 174 points in the three wins.

Lincoln will look to make it 7-0, 4-0 against a Muldrow team that is 4-2 on the year and 1-2 in district play.

"Muldrow is a very well-coached team that has a really good group of athletes on both their offense and defense," said Lincoln head coach Jerry Ricke.

Muldrow opened with non-district wins to start the year over Roland, Waldron (AR) and Spiro before winning its district opener 28-27 over Eufaula.

However, the Bulldogs have dropped the last two 3A-3 games, losing 21-17 at Checotah and 23-14 to Idabel last week.

Meanwhile, Lincoln has rolled over Stigler, Holland Hall and Locust Grove to start district play and continue the Bulldogs' 46-game district win streak.

The Bulldogs beat Stigler 49-0 on the road before coming home to rout then No. 4 Holland Hall 62-0.

Last week, Lincoln had no problem on the road at Locust Grove, winning 63-0.

The Bulldogs are trying to win their 8th consecutive district title and 3rd straight state championship.

To win this week, Lincoln will have to play on a short week for the second time in a month, which is something they are familiar with.

"We have a plan in place for these short weeks, as we have already had one this year, and the State Championship was played during a short week last season," Ricke said. "I have to give a ton of credit to my coaching staff because they are the ones who have the most stress on them during a short week, making sure our guys are thoroughly prepared."

Although the short week requires some changes, Ricke and his team know what it will take to move to 7-0 against a talented Muldrow team tonight.

"For us, a successful week looks like our guys being locked into our game plan, being prepared in our scouting reports, and getting their bodies ready to play," said Ricke.

Tonight's meeting will be the 6th meeting all-time between the two programs, with Lincoln looking for its 6th win.

The Bulldogs have outscored Muldrow 160-20 in the last three years, as Lincoln has scored 48 or more in all three wins.

Lincoln won 48-0 on the road at Muldrow in last season's district matchup.

The first two matchups between the two programs were in the 2016 and 2017 opening rounds of the playoffs.

Lincoln won both, including a 2017 win that was Ricke's first playoff win.

The 24-17 playoff win in 2017 was the only game that has been closer than a 41-point margin.

Lincoln has also won 32 regular season games in-a-row with just one loss since 2018. The Bulldogs are 84-4 across the last six seasons and 95-6 since the start of 2018.

OFFENSIVE PREVIEW

Lincoln will look to build off a huge passing week in last week's 63-0 win at Locust Grove.

The Bulldogs attack, led by senior quarterback Carter Ricke, carved up the Pirates through the air to the tune of 304 total passing yards.

Lincoln averaged 13.7 yards per play offensively and totaled 467 yards of offense.

"Offensively, we are executing both the run and the pass and making teams defend us both horizontally and vertically," Ricke said. "I really like the way our guys attack practice with pride and enthusiasm, even though the heat has lasted longer than we all want it to."

Ricke was 10-of-16 for 264 yards and four touchdowns in the win, with over half of that coming via connection to fellow senior receiver Hudson Farris.

Farris had a career night, finishing with five catches for 169 yards and three scores.

Ricke has completed 72% of his passes on the year and has thrown for 1,144 yards in six games. He has 16 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

The senior also has 207 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the ground, averaging 10.7 yards per carry.

Farris has 19 catches for 418 yards and four touchdowns on the year.

His running mate, junior receiver Brett Kaste, is Lincoln's leading receiver. The dynamic playmaker also has 19 catches for 470 yards and five touchdowns.

Kaste had two catches for 57 yards in last week's win.

After averaging over 300 yards per game on the ground through the first half of the regular season, Lincoln didn't have to run the ball as much last week, but the Bulldogs still impressed.

Lincoln averaged 10.9 yards per carry in the win, and that was without big performances from the star backfield duo of junior Braeden Baker and sophomore CJ Wright.

Each had just two touches, with both totaling 23 yards and a score.

However, the duo has been outstanding for the Bulldogs in 2025.

Baker leads the team with 493 rushing yards on 9.7 yards per carry, to go along with 10 rushing scores. He also has 13 catches for 89 yards and three scores as a receiver.

Wright averages an incredible 13.5 yards per carry on the ground, totaling 433 yards and five touchdowns.

He has 14 catches as a receiver for 128 yards and three TDs in the passing game.

Muldrow is led defensively by senior safety Gabe Miller, junior defensive back DJ Massey and senior safety Teague Collins.

"Defensively, they fly around to the football and play aggressively with their front and coverage," said Ricke.

Muldrow allows just 19.5 points per game and has not allowed a team to score over 27 this season.

DEFENSIVE PREVIEW

The Lincoln defense pitched its third consecutive shutout last week, as the Bulldogs to seemingly get stronger as the season goes on.

Lincoln has allowed just one touchdown in the five games outside of the Shiloh Christian game, where the Bulldogs won 41-33.

The Bulldogs are allowing 6.5 points per game and have held opponents to just 18-of-78 on 3rd downs —23% — on the season.

"We have been playing really good defense," Ricke said. "I think our starting defense has only given up two or three first downs in the last three games, and that is very hard to do."

Lincoln has allowed just 606 total yards of offense outside of the Shiloh game, just an average of 121 per game.

The Bulldogs have been led by sophomore linebacker Isaac Beisel, who has a team-high 38 tackles — 17 more than any other Lincoln defender.

Beisel also has five tackles for loss and a sack through six games.

Fellow linebacker in senior Connor Rowlett has 20 tackles, including four for loss and a sack.

Junior Parker Rogers, who had a pick six last week, has 19 tackles, including four for loss, on the year.

The big two up front, junior defensive linemen Colt Monsey and Lincoln Torres, continue to lead the way for the Bulldogs.

Monsey has 21 tackles, a team-high seven for loss, as well as two sacks and a fumble recovery.

Torres also has 21 stops on the year to go along with a team-high three sacks and four tackles for loss.

Senior Logan Kelley and freshman Colt Conroy have also played well for Lincoln up front, as Kelley has 12 tackles (3 TFL), while Conroy has 19 stops, three for loss, along with a sack and a forced fumble.

Kaste and Baker lead the way at safety for Lincoln, as Kaste also had a pick six in last week's win at Locust Grove.

He has 12 tackles on the year, as well as two interceptions and four pass break ups. Baker has 18 tackles and a pass break up.

Farris and sophomore Caleb Peterson have played outstanding at corner for Lincoln.

The senior has 18 tackles, including two for loss, and a sack this season. Peterson has 18 tackles, as well, along with a team-high five pass breakups and a team-leading three interceptions, one for a TD.

The Bulldogs will need all hands on deck this week to stop what is a dangerous Muldrow attack that averages 36 points per game, led by Collins.

"They have a dynamic playmaker at quarterback who can beat you with both his arm and his legs," said Ricke. "He has some really good receivers at his disposal and they have a scheme that makes you defend the entire field."

The senior has 745 passing yards and 10 scores through six games. He also is a threat with his legs, totaling 470 rushing yards and seven touchdowns as a runner, averaging almost 80 yards per game and 8.7 yards per rush.

"Their quarterback is a special player, and it has been fun to watch him grow into the player he is, having played against them the last four years," said Ricke. "He has some really good skill players around him that he does a good job if getting the ball to."

Senior running back Deshawn Wilson is one of those weapons, as he leads Muldrow with 551 yards and six touchdowns on the year. Wilson averaged 9.8 yards per carry.

Collins' favorite targets are senior receivers Jeraumee Palmer and J'Vion Mays.

Palmer has 322 yards and five scores on just 16 catches to lead Muldrow, while Mays has 226 yards and a touchdown.

Massey has just 10 catches for the offense but has turned four into touchdowns and averages 17.4 yards per catch.

In last season's shutout win, Lincoln held Muldrow to just 2.1 yards per play and 94 total yards.

Lincoln forced Muldrow's passing attack into a 5-of-19 performance, totaling just 45 yards through the air, as well as just 49 rushing yards on 26 attempts.
