ROUND 1 PREVIEW: No. 1 Lincoln's Quest to Repeat Begins at Home Friday vs. Jay

Top-ranked Lincoln Christian's quest to go back-to-back begins on Friday when the Bulldogs host Jay in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs.

Lincoln (10-0, 7-0) has won 24 games in a row after bringing home last year's title.

The Bulldogs rolled through district play, winning all seven contests by 42 points or more. It was Lincoln's 7th straight district championship.

Lincoln will play its third straight game at Dennis Byrd Stadium, where the Bulldogs have won 45 straight games.

Jay (4-6, 4-3) has won three in a row and beat Vinita 18-14 last week to make it into the playoffs.

Jay, also the Bulldogs, won 50-20 over Cleveland three weeks ago and beat Inola on the road 46-38 before the win over Vinita.

Lincoln rolled at home in the rainy weather over No. 7 Idabel last week, beating the Warriors 48-0.

Lincoln cruised through district play in the previous six weeks, beating Eufaula 62-7 after a 68-12 win at Checotah on Oct. 25.

The Bulldogs also won 48-0 at Muldrow over fall break, a week after beating Locust Grove 63-20 at home. Lincoln also won 55-0 at Holland Hall and 49-7 over Stigler at home in the first two district games.

Lincoln opened the season by beating Victory Christian 56-0 on the road.

The Bulldogs followed that up with a big road win at No. 2 Heritage Hall, coming from down double-digits at half to beat the Chargers 28-20, before Lincoln returned home for the win over Shiloh Christian.

Jay opened its season with losses to Adair, Gravette, Ark., and Grove.

The Bulldogs got their first win on the road at Verdigris, beating the Cardinals 52-36 to open district play.

Jay lost three straight to fall to 1-6, coming up on the short end at Claremore Sequoyah, at district champion Berryhill and against Cascia Hall.

The teams have played four times in the series, with Jay winning the most recent matchup, a 70-67 overtime thriller in a 2017 district contest.

Lincoln won the first three games of the series, winning two district matchups in 2012 and 2013, as well as a 62-13 district win in 2016.

Kickoff at Willie George Field will be Friday at 7 p.m.
