The Lincoln Christian Junior High football teams traveled to Mid-Town Tuesday night for a showdown with the Cascia Hall Commandos.
The 7th grade played a solid game winning 28-8.
The Bulldogs were off to a quick start with a Kai Dillard 30 yard run that would be followed by a 6 yard touchdown run by
Hudson Farris to put the Bulldogs up 6-0. Cascia then took momentum with a touchdown pass and a successful 2 point play to take their only lead of the game at 8-6 in the 2nd quarter.
Carter Ricke would respond by throwing his own 54 yard touchdown to Kai Dillard and he found
Hudson Farris for the 2 point play to go back up 14-8. Lincoln's defense came up big when
Carter Ricke forced a fumble that was scooped up by
Connor Rowlett, who took the ball 53 yards for a touchdown. After the successful 2 point play, the Bulldogs would go into halftime with a 22-8 lead. After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Ricke connected with
Chase Jobe on a 33 yard touchdown pass for the final score of the game. Bulldogs 28, Commandos 8.
The 8th grade fought hard, but would come up short in a 26-28 loss to the Commandos. The Bulldogs were off to a quick start after
Asa Loftis recovered his own onside kick on the opening kickoff. Kylan Schultheis led the Bulldog offense on a 10 play 44 yard drive capped off by a
Grayson Hampton touchdown run, and after the 2 point play to
Jack Milligan the Bulldogs started off 8-0. Cascia came out and in the middle of the 2nd quarter had an 80 yard touchdown run to get on the board, 8-6. With 2 minutes before halftime Schultheis found tight end
Mason Torres on a 15 yard touchdown pass which would give the Bulldogs the edge at halftime 14-6.
Midway through the 3rd quarter Cascia scored on a 36 yard touchdown run and tied the game 14-14 with a 2 point conversion. Schultheis took over on offense connecting with
Ethan Adams for a 30 yard pass down to the 1 yard line.
Grayson Hampton finished the drive with a tough 1 yard score giving the Bulldogs a 20-14 lead with 30 seconds left in the 3rd.
Cascia hit first in the 4th quarter with a 16 yard touchdown pass and 2 point play that put the Commandos up 22-20. The momentum continued in Cascia's favor as they recovered the following onside kick and scored 5 plays later to further their lead 28-20 with only 3 minutes remaining. Schultheis led the offense on a 74 yard drive with passes to
Luke Gunter, and tough runs by
Grayson Hampton. On 3rd and goal from the 1 yard line Kylan Schultheis fought his way into the end zone for a touchdown with 27 seconds left in the game. On the critical 2 point play,
Creed Nail was stopped on the 1 yard line to leave the Commandos with the lead and the win. Bulldogs 26, Commandos 28.
