DISTRICT CHAMPS!!

Bulldogs Get Hard Fought Road Win Against Stigler

The Lincoln Christian Bulldogs prevailed Friday night against the Stigler Panthers in a game that decided the winner of District 3A-3. Both teams entered the game undefeated and tied for the lead in the district. The Bulldogs got off to a quick start by going 85 yards on just 4 plays on the opening possession highlighted by senior Chase Hudson's 42 yard reception on a screen pass and capped off by a beautiful high lofted pass from Max Brown to Jordan Marsh for a 56 yard touchdown. The host Panthers matched the Bulldogs effort with a 6 play, 65 yard scoring drive of their own. Stigler quarterback Zane Oldham got the touchdown on a 4 yard run and Enrique Juarez's extra point kick gave the Panthers a 7-6 lead. Lincoln put together an 11 play, 61 yard drive in the 2nd quarter. Brown and Hudson had several tough runs and Marsh had a key 11 yard reception on 3rd and 7 to keep the drive going. Hudson got the touchdown on a 1 yard run. A failed 2 point conversion attempt left the Bulldogs with a 12-7 lead that they would take into intermission.

After their opening scoring drive, the Panthers found it tough going against the fast and tough Bulldog defense lead by seniors Daymon Levell, Eli Shearrer, and Cooper Lancaster. Stigler managed only 77 yards on 33 plays after that initial score. Chase Hudson scored his 2nd touchdown of the game in the 3rd quarter on a 2 yard run to give the Bulldogs a 19-7 lead heading into the 4th quarter. The Bulldogs offensive line, lead by senior Jaiden Faulkner, put the game away with a commanding 15 play, 76 yard, time eating drive. 14 of the 15 plays were on the ground. Hudson carried the ball 9 times and Brown carried it 5 times on the drive. The only pass on the drive was a 10 yard strike from Brown to Levi Conners on 3rd and 7. Brown's 7 yard touchdown run and Cooper Lancaster's extra point gave the Bulldogs a 26-7 margin at the 3:49 mark that would prove to be the final score.

Junior quarterback Max Brown finished the night completing 11 out of 12 passes for 163 yards and 1 touchdown and rushed 22 times for 126 yards and another touchdown. Senior running back Chase Hudson carried the ball 25 times for 94 yards and 2 touchdown and junior Jordan Marsh lead the Bulldog receivers with 3 receptions for 70 yards an a touchdown.

Lincoln Christian end the regular season 9-0. The Bulldogs will start their playoff run next week. Dates, times, and opponent will be determined.
